From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and presented the premier party of heroes who will split off from the main group to undertake their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might look out of place, but the events of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the narrative’s action—used the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer knows the region and advises that it is a nasty location.
- The warrior and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as important members in House Halovar could enable the party access areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.
